The Challenge

Power Pretzels was a newly launched protein pretzel brand entering a competitive Amazon marketplace. The brand had a strong product proposition, clean ingredients and a positioning built around active, health-conscious consumers.

But launching a new product on Amazon comes with a fundamental problem: how do you generate enough sales velocity to build organic ranking without spending heavily on Amazon advertising? Our answer: build demand outside Amazon and bring that demand onto Amazon.

The Strategy

Instead of treating Amazon Ads as the primary growth engine, we built an external traffic strategy around influencer marketing: influencer audience → external traffic → Amazon purchases → sales velocity → organic ranking → more Amazon visibility → more organic sales.

1. Understanding the Brand Before Choosing the Channel

Power Pretzels wasn't positioned as just another pretzel, it combined a familiar snack format with a protein-focused proposition, making it relevant to active-lifestyle, fitness, and health-conscious audiences.

2. Building a Micro-Influencer Network

We activated 187 influencers as part of the launch, prioritizing audience relevance over follower count, relevant niche audiences, higher alignment, authentic recommendations, and multiple independent sources of external traffic.

3. Sending External Demand to Amazon

Influencers introduced Power Pretzels to their audiences and directed interested consumers to the Amazon listing, creating an influx of shoppers who were already familiar with the product before they arrived.

4. Creating the Amazon Organic Flywheel

The influencer campaign generated sales velocity, which contributed to stronger organic performance and an improved Best Sellers Rank, a flywheel of influencer traffic → more orders → higher sales velocity → improved BSR → greater organic visibility → more organic orders.

The Breakthrough

The strategy produced a significant change in just three months. Power Pretzels' Best Sellers Rank improved by approximately 11X, while monthly orders increased by approximately 8X, growing from a baseline of roughly 179 orders per month to approximately 1,430 orders per month. This growth was achieved without a major increase in Amazon advertising spend.

From New Launch to Amazon's Choice

The improvement in sales velocity and organic ranking ultimately helped Power Pretzels reach Amazon's Choice, a meaningful milestone for a brand that had launched only three months earlier.

Why This Strategy Worked

1. The brand had a clearly defined audiencePower Pretzels' proposition naturally aligned with fitness, active-lifestyle, and health-conscious audiences.
2. We prioritized audience relevance over follower countMicro-influencers let the brand reach multiple targeted communities instead of one broad audience.
3. External traffic created Amazon sales velocityThose purchases built the momentum needed to improve organic ranking.
4. Organic ranking reduced dependence on paid trafficThe brand benefited from Amazon traffic without needing to increase ad spend proportionally.
5. The strategy created compounding growthInfluencer marketing created demand; Amazon converted it into velocity; velocity improved visibility; visibility created more sales.

The bigger lesson: for new Amazon brands, the natural instinct is often "we need more Amazon Ads." Power Pretzels shows that isn't always the answer. Don't always spend more to grow on Amazon, create demand where your customers already are, bring that demand to Amazon, and let organic momentum compound the results.
